Respite Care

Respite Care

If you’re going on holiday or need a break , we can offer residents a temporary stay. We provide a range of respite care and short stays across all of our homes, from a few days up to a few weeks.

There are many circumstances for respite care

Respite Care also referred to as a short stay is a temporary living arrangement at a care home. We provide a range of respite care and short stays across all of our homes. Respite care stays can range from a few days up to a few weeks to meet your specific needs.

Circumstances where respite and short stays may be needed, might include.

  • The unexpected onset of illness.
  • A period of recuperation or rehabilitation after medical treatment such as an operation or hospital stay.
  • A break for family members or carers at home

Service for both carer and cared for

There are times when it is essential to give carers at home a break from what can be a full-time caring role. A short break or holiday will allow time for them to rest, making a big difference to maintaining their own personal health and preventing a burnout from stress and exhaustion.

Respite care is equally beneficial to those being cared for. Living at home on your own can be quite isolating, especially for those with limited independence.

Short stays allow for the opportunity to meet and talk to new people and provide an opportunity to take part in new activities or rekindle an old pastime.

Introduction to living in a care home

We offer short stays as an introduction to living in our homes. Making the decision to move full time into a care home can be daunting and choosing the right home is very important. To make this decision a little easier we offer short stays to see if our homes are right. A short stay will allow people and their family members to become familiar with the home, a chance to meet and talk to our staff and other residents, experience our food and join in with the activities.

Before your stay

Before your stay we will need to understand your needs, preferences and objectives, we will then put a plan into place to ensure that these are met. Our aim will be to provide seamless continuity of care, so where possible, it is important that we can start to get to know you before your stay. This might include getting to know your usual daily routines, likes and dislike and dietary requirements or preferences.

A Respite stay at Brandon Care is bespoke to you. Our well-trained staff will work hard to ensure that your stay is enjoyable, comfortable and beneficial.
